We love homemade.

Now that Sadie is relishing in the delights of solid food we have begun shopping at our weekly Farmers Market to pick up locally grown organics to make for her.  I really love doing this.  It’s a fun adventure for the family and it feels so good to be giving our little honey the best stuff.

This week we did snow peas.

I recently purchased the generic brand baby food processor from babies r us.  There are some pretty expensive ‘baby food makers’ out there, but I thought I’d give this one a shot.  I love it!  Works great, even when making a puree out of peas – which are so small and sometimes difficult in blenders.  And it’s under $30, can’t beat that!

All we had to do is shell the peas, wash and boil them, add a little breast milk and put them in the processor and voila!!  Easy pea-sy.

Not every day can be a homemade day.  But when they are – they sure are sweet.

We love.

Once I began to venture out into the world with Sadie I became obsessed with noticing other Moms out there.  I’d check their stroller out, give their diaper bag a once over,  see if they had any tricks up their sleeves that I hadn’t figured out yet.  By doing this I have definitely picked up a few tricks and a bit of confidence along the way.  I have also noticed on quite a few occasions a certain blanket that I really liked.  And the more I looked, the more I noticed every Mom had this!  I was beginning to question myself as a Mother, why didn’t I have this amazing blanket that everyone else seems to own?

So I asked a Mom friend of mine about it, and she told me she adored hers and where to get it.  So being the good-natured person that I am, I thought I’d pass along the helpful advice.

This light-weight musselin type fabric is made by a company called aden + anais.  They come in a 3 pack for about $45.  That might seem a bit steep, but honestly, it is worth it.  They make the perfect swaddle, light-weight blanket, burp rag, nursing cover, sun shade over the stroller or playmat.  I use all 3 of mine constantly.  I have one in the diaper bag, one in the nursery and one on the couch.  Since they are a thin material it is perfect to cover the baby up in the stroller on a very sunny day and still  be able to see through. Same goes for breastfeeding, it covers you up great but leaves just enough transparency so you can see your baby.  Honestly, it is a great investment + they are super cute.  The one we have is the Bamboo Collection, which is super duper soft.

Happy shopping!
